What is the difference between threaded rod and all thread?

Jun 09,2023

"Threaded rod" and "all thread" are terms used interchangeably to refer to a type of fastener that consists of a long, straight metal rod with threading along its entire length. While the terms are often used synonymously, there is a subtle difference in their application and usage.

Threaded Rod: Threaded rod is a generic term used to describe a rod with continuous external threading along its entire length. It is available in various materials, such as steel, stainless steel, or other alloys. Threaded rods are typically used in applications where a fastening or mechanical connection is required. They are commonly used in construction, plumbing, and industrial settings for applications such as securing objects, hanging pipes or ductwork, or creating structural connections.

All Thread: "All thread" is a term commonly used in North America to refer to threaded rod. It is essentially the same as threaded rod and shares the same characteristics. The term "all thread" may have originated from the fact that the rod has threading "all" the way along its length. It has become a popular term in North American usage but is essentially synonymous with threaded rod.
